A couple of weeks ago we went to the beach with my sister and her family, it's always a good time when we get together. Our granddaughter Abi went with us this time and she 's always a sport about letting me take pictures of her, I played around with those first, but I did have some of Wanda's family that I will post later too.
I know that the amaryllis lilies have been gone now for a couple of months now, and I meant to post this before now, but you know how fast time goes by.............so I am just getting to it now. I found this bulb at on the clearance shelf in a plastic bag, it said white , well I have some white ones, but mostly red ones, and it was only a dollar and a half. So , for under two bucks, why not add to my collection. Even in the bag the bud had already starting growing, and it didn't take long for it to shoot up and open.......... it had to be the prettiest one I have ever seen. If I ever find another bulb like that again I'll pay full price for it and get as many as I can. BEAUTIFUL!
Jonathan has learned to swim in the last couple of weeks........when we would try to tell him what to do, it was no, no, I can't do that, I'll be scared.....but watching his cousins jumping in the water and swimming was all it took.....................he copied almost everything that they did, even diving. We are so proud of him, his sister Abi is content to do canon bombs, but they are good canon bombs..........pretty big splashing for a little girl.
Getting pictures of Melissa is a little harder than getting one of Abi, but I lucked out with this one..........nothing planned, just turned around and there they were. I will treasure this one forever.
More of Cadee's dedication day..........
On June 20, Cadee Grace Benz was dedicated by to our Heavenly Father by her parents, Brandi and Derek. My brother Bill did the ceremony, which seemed fitting since he performed their marriage. Cadee is already four months old and is the sweetest baby, always smiling. She's a very happy baby and for a good reason, she has the best parents, they are going to do everything in their power to give her the best life possible. When they are together you can feel the love..................and the trust that Cadee has for them. My sister Jackie is so proud to a grandmother now, (meme J), and makes as many trips as she can to see her and get kisses. My other sister Wanda, made Cadee's dress, it was so beautiful with lace and embroidery work all over it and a B monogram at the bottom. She was so pretty all dressed up and meme J gave her a pearl bracelet for the occasion. Baby dedications are always a sweet service to me, knowing that it takes more than good parents to raise children, we need family and friends and God's protection and guidance too. It was a very sweet service with family and friends and a reception following where Brandi and Cadee released pink heart balloons into the sky in remembrance of Cade (Wheeler) Shouppe, (who Cadee was named after). He passed away last July, but he is always with us, and Cadee will know him as she grows up because her mommy and family will tell her stories of his life and how special he was to everyone. Brandi and Derek are going to have to move closer back to this area so we can see Cadee more often..................... and them too.
It's time for the Garden Gala again sponsored by Hospice of Marianna, this is one of their major fundraisers for them. It is going to be held on June 27th at the National Guard Armory in Marianna. The main items to be auctioned off are swings and chairs that are made and painted by local volunteers. Many other local businesses donate items for a silent auction. The night includes dinner, desert and several tables upset for yummy tastings. This is my second year to paint a swing for the auction and I really hope that someone out there likes it enough to buy it. I kept it pretty simple, but it's a design that I would like in my yard, so I might buy it myself. I've had several people ask about what it looked like so I'm posting some pictures for you and encouraging everyone to go to the gala that can, it's a lot of fun last year and raised a lot of money for Hospice. You just don't know how wonderful these people are til you need them.
Spring turkey season always last a little longer when you stretch it out over a few states, so the guys (Richard and Daniel) planned a hunting trip in Kentucky. Which was fine with me, because one of my good friends, Terri, that I don't get to see very often lives just about forty five minutes west of the hunting lodge. So while the guys rough it, Kim and I are living the good life with the Holland family. I have known the entire family for over twenty years, well not their daughter Kelsey, because she is not that old yet.........Kim had never met them before but I knew that they would not be strangers for long. It was Kelsey's sr. prom that weekend, so we got to see her all dressed up and take a few pictures of her and her boyfriend who goes to UK, and just happens to be where she will be going in the fall, leaving Jeff and Terri with an empty nest. What will they do? That means they will have an extra spare bedroom.........hummmm, maybe another visit in the fall, (if Terri is up for it then). It was so good to see Terri again and catch up on all the girl stuff and she had some good meals prepared for us, I ate like a pig, everything taste so good to me.....(I have recipes to share). The time went by so fast and it was time to meet up with the guys again, who by the way had a good time too, Richard got two birds, Daniel not so lucky this trip, but I still think he had a good time. Thanks Terri and Jeff for the hospitality!
I feel fortunate to be able to get all of our grandkids in a picture together, so when I do I take as many shots as I can. Saturday was our annual Easter Egg Hunt, some are too big for the hunt, but not for the baskets filled with assorted goodies..........Everyone had a great time hunting eggs or just watching the hunt, all but two eggs were found, maybe we'll find them doing yard work this summer.
Taekwondo is not for wimps........and I think I might be a wimp. Grandson N's class had a demonstration last Saturday in Bonifay and I got the chance to capture a few "in motion" shots. It's amazing what these students can do, the moves, breaking boards, without breaking bones. N has his camo belt and is close to getting his green belt, not sure what belt my son (his dad) has, or if he even has one yet, but my son did show me the girl who kicks him over the place every week at class......he's just learning. I did get N to show me some moves later while we were out in the yard.........................impressive, (nothing that I was going to try). It would be a funny sight to see a 53 year old lady running from a 9 year old boy, but I might be able to out run anyone who came after me with those kicks.
