I am having so much fun creating these little outfits, and I think that so far this one is my favorite, maybe it's the colors. I used the yolk from a McCall's pattern, trimmed with lace and just added assorted contrasting fabrics pieced together with gold overlocked stitches. I love how fast the overlock stitching makes everything go together. A band of fabric same as the yolk borders the bottom with added ribbon and rick rack trim. Gold buttons on the strap come over and button onto the yolk to finish the top. A simple natural white tee with coordinating buttons go under the top for school, but can be worn without a shirt underneath. Cut the bottom off a pair of jeans and add matching lace trim and fabric ruffles to complete the look..................now, off to hunt for new ideals.
The yolk with trim and straps attached to back.
Sergering the pieces together
and attaching them to the yolk.
Attach the band,
and the trim .
Finished top with tee.
I trimmed the bottom off a pair of jeans, added lace and ruffle.
I decided to add this ruffle detail to one leg.
.......the completed look.
I think this is my favorite material too. I like the way you can add trims, embroidery or whatever you want to the yoke and it makes the outfit look totally different. Had fun on Saturday and looking forward to a "sew" night again real soon.
